An Emergency Paediatric First Aid course is aimed predominantly at parents and carers. If you have a professional interest, Ofsted and the Early Years Foundation Stage require you to have 12 hours of paediatric first aid training. The 2-Day Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid would be required to fulfil their requirements. This 6 hour qualification also makes up the first half of the 12-hour course.It focus' only on Paediatric first aid. Whilst not a required pre-requisite holding a first aid at work or emergency first aid at work qualification is something we advise, remember that where there are children there will be adults to.
This course meets the statutory requirements of the department for education. The course's awarding body is First Aid Awards (FAA). It is regulated by OFQUAL and is SQA accredited. The qualification sits on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) and Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF).

Resuscitation (CPR including the safe use of an AED)
Minor injuries
Wounds, bleeding and shock
Recovery position
1 days or 7 hours (6 hour contact time, 1 hours pre-learning) of learning. Candidates must be present for all the training hours without exception.

This qualification lasts for 3 years. To renew the qualification, learners will need to resit the full course. However, it is recommended that during the 3-year period, the learners attend annual refresher courses.
Summative practical assessment is ongoing by the instructor, along with a written assessment. A three year Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid (Level 6 in Scotland) will be issued to the learner, subject to successful assessment. No external assessors are required.
A maximum of 12 students are allowed and must be a minimum of 16 years of age. A certificate will be offered to all, subject to assessment.
