Annual Refresher for First Aiders 

Who is this course aimed at:

This non regulated course is designed for those who already have an in date first aid qualification to refresh their skills. It can be taken as often as you like but we recommend refreshing your skills at least once a year.

Although it is not mandatory, the HSE strongly recommend that HSE qualified First Aiders and Emergency First Aiders undertake an annual refresher course in order to keep their skills up-to-date and refreshed. The qualification period for both groups of First Aiders is 3-years. It was felt that this period was too long without any additional training.

• Communication skills

• Primary Assessment

• Top-to-toe survey

• Recovery Position

• Action for vomit

• Resuscitation

• Chain of Survival

• Wounds and bleeding

• Bandaging and Hygiene

Course length:

A minimum of 3 hours

Certification:

A certificate of attendance can be offered to all. 

Assessment:

Summative practical assessment is ongoing by the instructor each day, along with a written assessment on each day. A three year Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (Level 6 in Scotland) will be issued to the learner, subject to successful assessment. No external assessors are required.

Course size:

A maximum of 16 candidates are allowed and must be a minimum of 14 years of age. A certificate of attendance can be offered to all.
